The X-15 is a hypersonic research aircraft that set speed records above Mach 4 and is likely the most important of the USAF series of experimental aircraft. Long before the push for civilian space flight, the X15 "rocket plane" was reaching and returning from the edge of space. Two X-15 survive from the period - One is on display at the USAF Museum in Ohio and the other can be seen at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. With the X-15 Sport model rocket you can create your model rocket of history and launch it to heights above 900 feet.
