Robot MarketPlace - COPAL 50:1 Gearmotor

This little motor takes the Copal line another step further with its all-metal gears at a ratio of 50 to 1. We've tested this motor extensively, and were extremely impressed at it's performance.

There are now TWO different versions of this motor- one with a 6V motor, and one with a 12V motor. Since we know many builders will opt to overvolt these motors anyway to 12+ volts, we had Copal develop a new 6V version of this motor, just for the Robot MarketPlace! Both motor models have wire leads soldered onto the back. Check out the stats below.

Note that this motor's gearbox is exposed, so it's best for use in a bot where it is enclosed. If you need to, you could wrap a layer of thin CF or foil around the gearbox if you're worried about grit getting inside, or better yet, check out our Lexan Mounts made just for this motor, which also keep the gearbox enclosed.

Good motors

A good motor and perfect for my robot project: It«s small and powerful with metal gears that prevent break easily when the shaft is blocked.

The downside is the difficulty of screw without using Lexan Mounts, but with these clamps no problem.

Good motor, highly recomended.

Combat Results

I powered my 1 pound combat robot with these wheels. Even with 2.5 inch wheels, the robot drove pretty slowly, but it was acceptable and actually made it very easy to drve. On good side they are rather light. The flaw in these motors is that the bushing holding the ouput shaft are basically press fit into the gearbox. In short, the ruggedness of these motors is exaggerated. Do not mount unprotected wheels on these motors. Also, there are no mounting holes on this motor so essentially, you must design something to clamp them in place.

I give them 3 stars for average performance, cumbersome mounting, and flawed design.

Great motor. Works like a charm, but be careful, because the motor leads can easily break off. Once that happens, you're down 27 bucks. Other than that it's great.

Excellent little motors. I've used these in several of my bots and have yet to experience a failure. These are not the fastest motors out there but I feel they would just fine for most antweights especially considering the limited arena size.

My only complaint with these motors would have to be the difficulty in mounting them securely. These motors lack any usable threaded holes or physical features to aid in mounting. Instead a custom mount is needed or the available clamping mounts can be used but either option adds weight results in one more component to cram in your already cramped robot.

EXACTLY! But I have tested this motor extensively. It performance is very good. The disadvantage is that it is not very fast.

All hobbists need the qualities of this motor but We need the speed of Copal 30:1 Gearmotor.

I am sure that if you can sell a geared Motor with this TORQUE and MORE VELOCITY: All people will buy it!

It is only a recommendation. But I think that it is a very good idea.
